THE DOG (& CAT) DAYS OF SUMMER FUNDRAISING EVENT OF 2023
Pender County Humane Society
WHAT MAKES TODAY SPECIAL? TODAY IS THE DAY YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
The Pender County Humane Society is undertaking our first-ever Summer fundraising event! Our Shelter is in critical need of funding to take care of our Furry Friends, several of which have serious medical conditions that will tax our already strained budget. We are a no-kill shelter located in Burgaw, N.C., dedicated to improving the lives of homeless and unwanted animals by providing shelter and medical care while finding loving and responsible permanent homes. We work to prevent cruelty and overpopulation among dogs and cats and to help assist and educate the public about responsible pet care. We rescue animals from Pender and surrounding counties. We are not funded by any federal, state, or local entities and rely primarily on donations to operate our Shelter.
WHAT DOES MY DONATION DO FOR PCHS? It allows us to keep our doors open, take animals to and from the vet, and take animals scheduled to be euthanized from other shelters into our care; pay for food and water, waste removal, utilities, and most importantly, our vet bills, to keep all our animals healthy until they find their furever homes. To see the current Shelter pets that you will influence with your donation, go to penderhumane.org
Monthly bills you will help to pay with your donation:
• Food and Supplies
• Van Expenses
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donations to Pender Humane Society are tax-deductible. Please make sure your donation is either recurring (default setting) or one-time by checking the button on the top left of the donation page. Note: If your company has a matching gifts program, be sure to register your donation and have it matched to double your impact!
Here are a couple of our more notable adoption success stories:
Success Story #1: Don
Don was one of our special senior dogs. He was adopted by a family in 2022 after having been returned to the shelter by the previous owners. Don was such an integral part of his new family that when the adopter’s son was about to be deployed, he contacted his parents with a special request. From Don’s adopters: “The night before, he texted and asked us to bring Don over because Don loves people, and Don ‘might calm people down.’ I didn't see anybody breaking down on Sunday, but I did see my son very happy to have Don there. I think ‘Don might calm people down’ was code for ‘Don might calm me down.’"
Success Story #2: Cambria Celebrates 5th birthday with Furever Family
Cambria, a pit bull adopted as a puppy from Pender County Humane Society in 2018, recently celebrated her 5th birthday with her family. Her day was spent chasing tennis balls, enjoying a new squeaky toy, and having homemade, dog-friendly pupcakes. Her five years with her furever family have been marked with lots of love, laughs, and memories, with many more to come!
Your donation to PCHS allows for our dogs and cats to be well-cared for a while waiting to find their furever homes. Please contribute today to help more animals celebrate their special occasions!
