2023 A SEASON FOR THANKSGIVING FUNDRAISER
Welcome to the Pender Humane Society's 2023 A SEASON FOR THANKSGIVING fundraising campaign. We are a NO-KILL shelter located in Burgaw, North Carolina, dedicated to improving the lives of homeless and unwanted animals by providing shelter and medical care while finding loving and responsible permanent Furever homes. We work to prevent cruelty and overpopulation among dogs and cats and to help assist and educate the public about responsible pet care. We rescue animals from Pender and surrounding counties. We are NOT funded by any Federal, State, or Local entities and rely primarily on donations to operate the Shelter. The past several years have been very difficult for fundraising, and the Shelter NEEDS donations to continue operation. We are offering you the opportunity to donate a lump sum payment, or to donate on a monthly basis, all through our DONATE button, or start your own Fundraising effort (PEER-TO-PEER)!
YOU CAN HELP US FINISH 2023 ON A POSITIVE NOTE FOR SHELTER ANIMALS IN NEED OF A SAFE, HEALTHY, AND LOVING ENVIRONMENT AND KICK OFF 2024 AS WELL!

WHAT MAKES TODAY SPECIAL?
TODAY IS THE DAY YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Thank you for supporting our Furry Friends!
YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE - WE MAKE IT EASY!
Thanks to our Donors, we can share the following success stories for you to understand how you make a difference:
Our Favorite Success Story: This year saw the adoption and fostering of several of our long-term animals! First, there was Don, a sweet hound/beagle mix who spent his shelter days enjoying walks, soaking up love from staff and volunteers, and dressing up for the holidays. After multiple false starts, Don has happily settled in with his Furever family, and photo updates show that he is living his best life! Below is a photo of Don with his new Dad!
Of course, his new Mom wanted a picture with Don as well!
Another long-term resident who has ventured on is Bear, a pit mix with the sweetest soul who loved to cuddle (once you won him over!). After over a year at the shelter, Bear is also enjoying the comforts of being home with family, including having a fur sibling and taking naps on the couch wrapped in a cozy blanket - some much-deserved rest and happiness! Bear is on the RIGHT in this photo.
Our Favorite LONG DISTANCE success story: One of our Board members had a conversation with a college friend who loves cats. Turns out, she was interested in TWO of our cats, Ben & Jerry. She traveled from New Hampshire to NC just to adopt them. When she got to the Shelter and talked with the Staff, she couldn’t resist one of our other shelter cats, Zen! She adopted ALL THREE, and they are now safe and warm in their New Hampshire FUREVER home!
This couple, Jamie and Hiza, adopted these 3 kittens: Tony, Jackie, and Ziva! They originally came for one cat and ended up with all 3! These cats were all litter mates, and the couple just couldn’t leave one behind.
